CONTINENTAL TRAIL KING PROTECTION MTB

WEB-00024
The tubeless ready Trail King ProTection Tire from Continental is the best all-around trail tire of the line-up. From pure hardpack to mud, and everthing in between, the Trail King can handle it. Now, is it the best tire for each individual trail condition? Of course not, but it more than handles them all, and really shines in the middle range of those extremes, and in wet conditions. After all, most trail riders encounter variable surfaces and conditions on most rides. A trail that is dry and rocky up top may be soft, rooty and wet further down. You need your tire to be durable, consistent, and perform at its limits to ride to your maximum potential. Continental delivers with the Trail King. Continental's BlackChili compound ensures that the Trail King has low rolling resistance, yet offers phenomenal grip in wet or dry circumstances. With proprietary synthetic and natural rubber compounds, the secret to the properties of BlackChili comes from special nanometric carbon soot particles, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for each tire it is used in. When matching this specific compound with the all-round ProTection casing, a puncture protection layer that is durable, yet light and supple enough to keep the tire weight manageable, Continental delivers an exceptional performance tire. The patterned ProTection sidewall design gives away the casing, but the addition of APEX sidewall reinforcement on the Trail King increases strength. ProTection level tires now all feature the Revolution Tubeless Ready Bead, which makes tubeless set-up quick and easy, and having the ability to run the open tread pattern tubeless at slightly lower pressures, along with the BlackChili grip is what allows the Trail King to be so versatile. The tread pattern itself is familiar to the heavy trail/freeriding cyclist. A center pattern of alternating two knob tread blocks keep the speed up, but allows for fast clearance and maximum traction in loose stuff or high-profile roots and rocks. The outer knobs frame the center combinations; one two block combo aggressive, the next more transitional, means you can dig aggressively into corners at speed, or under braking load. The hook-up on wet or dry rocks and roots is borderline unbelievable. This is a solid mud tire because it self cleans easily, and allows the tread knobs to do the job. When you need all the tire you can get go with 2.4 front and rear. The popular 29er combination for multi-condition, or wet, use is front and rear in 2.4 and 2.2 respectively. 27.5" users will generally run 2.4" front and rear or a 2.6" up front. In p laces where more hardpack or loose material over hardpack is prominent, a Trail King front/ Mountain King or Race King rear is common. We have considerable time as a group on the Conti MTB tires and have found them to be durable, reliable, and as advertised. It is our experience that after a few trail or pavement rides, these tires really begin to show off. Now it is your turn.
