MEET HYDROGEL

Hydrogels are widely used in the food industry, often as thickeners and structuring agents. A hydrogel is a structure of biopolymer and water with very small pores. As a 3D network with the ability to hold water, it looks and behaves a bit like a kitchen sponge.

At Maurten, we found a way to make hydrogels with natural food ingredients. We have filled the structure with the most efficient energy source there is - carbohydrates.

The hydrogels in our sports drinks are made from the combination of two natural ingredients:

Alginate - extracted from the cell walls of brown algae.

Pectin - found in apples, lemons, carrots, tomatoes and other sources.

These two dietary fibers have been used for decades in the food industry. Combined with the right and precise conditions, alginate and pectin form a pH-sensitive hydrogel.

Drink Mix 320, 1 sachet = 80g

If you want hydration and lots of energy - this is the product for you. One serving contains 80 grams of carbohydrates (500 ml).

Mix each sachet with 500 ml of water and shake well until dissolved. Be careful, you have to put in the right ratio for the hydrogel technology to work.

AMOUNT OF ENERGY

Studies have shown that our body can use up to 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour. One Drink Mix 320 sachet, mixed with 500 ml of water - contains 80 grams of carbohydrates.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Drink Mix 320 is based on hydrogel technology *. When you mix it with water, you have a sports drink that contains a high concentration of maltodextrin and fructose. The sports drink immediately turns into a hydrogel in the acidity of the stomach. The hydrogel allows the smooth transport of the drink through the stomach to the intestine where you absorb the water, salt and carbohydrates.
